I met with Kimbal Musk who has founded a Boulder, CO based startup, me.dium.com. They have combined social networking, instant messaging and web browsing to create a compelling application that suggests the cyber-punk future presented in Snowcrash and Accelerando.
My interest was piqued because of the intersection here with digital identity and mobility. The client application enhances the user’s web browsing experiencing, bringing people and places of relevance to them as they browse. I’m excited because it could become the leverage point by which user’s gain control of their digital identity.
From the mobility perspective this intersects with our Embrace Mobile projects where we have integrated location and messaging capabilities to provide contextually relevant information to mobile users.
